Cryers Win Series / Latest UFA Pens Rumors

Cryers Comeback and Beat the Habs 6-4

The Flyers came back from a 3-1 defecit and defeated the #1 seeded Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Center 6-4. Pittsburgher/Penguin's Killer RJ Umberger scored twice, which gives him a total of 9 goals and 10 points in the NHL Playoffs. Late in the 3rd Period Scottie Upshall scored the GW goal past Habs goalie Carie Price. Mike Knuble ended the game with an open-netter. The Flyers are the second team in NHL history to go from last in the league to the Conference Finals. Detroit was the only other team to do so.

The Flyers will likely play the Pens in the Eastern Conference Finals. They may play the Rangers if the Rags are able to pull off a miracle and beat the Penguins in their next 3 playoff games. The Penguins or the Raners will have home ice advantage because they are the higher seed.

NHL.com Recap/Game 5 Habs vs. Flyers
The last remaining Canadian team has been eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Scottie Upshall scored the go-ahead goal with just over three minutes left in regulation Saturday night as the Philadelphia Flyers advanced to the Eastern Conference final with a 6-4 win over the Montreal Canadiens.

The Flyers, who eliminated the Canadiens in five games, will face either the Pittsburgh Penguins or the New York Rangers in the conference final. The Penguins lead the best-of-seven series 3-1.
R.J. Umberger led the way offensively with a pair of goals as the Flyers erased a 3-1 deficit with three straight second-period goals.

Montreal forward Andrei Kostitsyn tied the score early in the third period, setting the stage for Upshall's heroics.

The Canadiens' loss means the Stanley Cup final will not feature a Canadian team for the first time since 2003. It also extends Canada's Stanley Cup drought to 15 years - and counting.
