VS. Won't Have the Pens Game in HD
Kudos to Paul from Kuklas Korner
Just got off the phone with Versus and game 1 of the ECF will not be broadcast in HD. They have a commitment to show the golf show from the TPC.So the Pens/Flyers game will only be in SD, so set your DVRs properly if recording.

Pittsburgh vs. Filthy
Kudos to Andy from Bucks County Courier Times
From Andy Vineberg (a HOMER!),
Pittsburgh might have Crosby, but we've got Cosby, who, let's be honest, is considerably funnier than the Penguins' whiny young scoring sensation — even if he's 70 years old and can't skate.
For you non-hockey fans out there, the Penguins' Crosby is Sidney, not to be confused with David or Bing. But really, what kind of a name for a hockey player is Sidney? Of course, compared to the first names of the Penguins' other two top scorers — Marian and Evgeni (the Russian form of Eugene) — Sidney sounds positively manly. Seriously, Sidney, Marian and Eugene?
-
Sounds more like the starting lineup of a chess team than a hockey team.
-
I'll take my chances with Mike, Jeff, Danny and R.J., thank you very much.

Buccigross Previews the Conference Finals
1. The Penguins are a very good defensive team. Why?
-
• Because every player in the NHL pretty much plays both ways in the 21st century NHL as opposed to during the Gretzky-Lemieux era.• Because they have under-30 legs like Pascal Dupuis and Marian Hossa, who have been well coached in the art of blowing up plays in the neutral zone.
• Because they have young legs like Jordan Staal, Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby, Tyler Kennedy, Max Talbot, Ryan Malone, Kris Letang and Ryan Whitney.
• Because they are a tight unit whose members make plays and sacrifices for one another.
• Because they have players with height and reach. Malkin, Staal, Hal Gill, Whitney and Malone cover a lot of ice.
• Because they have a very talented goalie, Marc-Andre Fleury, who was a No. 1 overall draft pick and has an easygoing manner that appears to be similar to that of an effective baseball closer. He shrugs off goals and games because he has talent.
This is why the Penguins have been my Stanley Cup pick -- because they are a very good defensive team.
This series is actually counterintuitive to what the casual or slightly out-of-touch hockey fan might see. Pittsburgh is the best defensive team the Flyers have faced so far this postseason. Philadelphia is the best offensive team the Penguins have played so far. That makes this a very interesting matchup. Since the Penguins have the defensive edge, I'll take them. Defense is more dependable than offense.
