According to CBC Sport's Hotstove Evgeni Malkin won't give the Penguins the hometown discount that Sidney Crosby gave them last year.
Expect Malkin to sign a long term deal which will cost a lot more than Sidney Crosby's current contract which is at 8.7 Million a year. Malkin might even get the maximum amount of money allowed for NHL players which is a little over 10 mil a year. I wouldn't be suprised to see Malkin sign a contract that is similar to Alexander Ovechkin's contract which is at 13 years, 124 million.
Malkin is currently signed through the 2008-2009 season and is paid $984,200.

Pierre Lebrun & Al Strachan are HACKS of the highest order RUUUTS
The only one who is knowledgeable is Scott Morrison & he didn't say anything
I don't expect Malkin to sign a long term deal. He didn't seem interested in signing for as long as Ovechkin.
Here is a quote from the Trib about Malkin's contract.
"Six years, then another six years," Malkin said. "That would be great."
